Hobsons Bay International Friendship Association Announces Winner

At the Mayoral Reception for the student delegation from Hobsons Bay’s Sister City, Anjo Japan, Asami Weaver received first prize for her essay written in Japanese.  The Hobsons Bay International Friendship Association invited secondary students from year 9 to 12 to enter the Jimmy Kaye Japanese Language Scholarship, the topic of which was “Why I am Proud to Live in Hobsons Bay”.  Mayor Peter Hemphill presented Asami with a $500 scholarship; the runner up was Sam Penfold and winner of the year 9/10 scholarship, Wil Tattersall. This scholarship is an annual event and students living in Hobsons Bay who wish to apply next year will find entry information on the Hobsons Bay International Friendship Association and Council website from April 2017.
